Frequently Asked Questions
Why Do You Do Your Own Printing On Fine Art Paper?
The physical print is the final outcome of the photographic process. Hanging on the wall, a photographic print can have a presence in your home or office. A backdrop to your daily life and a statement of not just mine, but also your sense of art, inspiration and beauty. A well made print can speak and last for generations.
This is my life's work. The quality of my prints is extremely important to me. That is why I personally print fine art paper prints in house. I was traditionally trained in darkroom printing and spent years mastering the process. Inkjet printers are now capable of producing highly detailed prints with subtle, extraordinary, beautiful tones. From capture, to post production, to print, I have developed an entire process for my photographs that renders out the vision, inspiration, and intention behind my images.
Large prints look great, make a statement in any room, and can make the final touch on your homes styling.
Print mounting on 3/16" rigid Gator Board can be an excellent solution for displaying prints without the hassle of glass. I also build my own picture frames for float mounting prints. Please contact me directly for inquiries.
Do You Offer Alternative Print Media?
Yes. Choosing a media type is simply a matter of deciding which will look best in your home or office.
Fine Art Paper - The traditional media for photographic prints, this is my first choice for prints. My choice of paper is Moab Entrada. It has a beautiful tonal range and exceptional reproduction qualities. Entrada is a heavy, matte finish paper which is archival for a long print life. Fine Art Prints require mounting or matting and framing for display. For large prints I prefer to float mount on rigid Gator Board. Custom framing is also available.
Metal - Metal prints are luminous, snappy and vibrant. Metal prints are created by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Excellent longevity. Print life equals or exceeds traditional photographic prints. *Note - Metal prints include mounting and a 3/4" float backing frame. They are mounted and ready to hang upon arrival.
Canvas - Canvas prints are mounted on stretcher frames and can be hung without any additional framing. Canvas fine art prints are quick and easy to display. Canvas is a custom order item. Please contact me directly if you wish to purchase a canvas print.
