A life in photography.
As a kid, my dad always called me a dreamer. He wasn't wrong. So, my parents gave me a camera for high school graduation. It was a vehicle for my dreams and the course was set.
After more than 30 years as a commercial photographer, I found myself still daydreaming about my first and greatest passion - the outdoors. Once heart and mind connect there is no turning back. Early call times, the sounds of traffic and client deadlines are being replaced by a 3am alarm, the sound of my boots on the trail and anticipation of the next sunrise.
Wild places and outdoor experiences led me to photography. I am happiest when I have hiking boots on my feet and a pack on my back. The camera is the best excuse I have found for wandering around and exploring. Whether I am on a mountain ridge line in the west or balancing on a pitching boat deck off the coast of Maine, those are the places that inspire and motivate me.
I call it chasing the light. But, really, fine art landscape and portrait photography is all about finding the light, waiting for the light and then, finally, letting the moment happen.
Thanks for taking the time and viewing my work.
